The human worldview has changed several times. Ptolemy's worldview had the Earth at the centre, but in the Renaissance, Copernicus challenged this by moving the Sun to the centre. In the modern worldview, the Earth orbits the Sun in a galaxy that is just one of many in an infinite universe.
The ultimate question, however, is whether there are universes other than our own? This question can be traced back to antiquity, but is still relevant today, with several Hollywood films talking about a multiverse - meaning that our universe is just one of infinitely many universes.
Scientifically, the topic has been controversial. While renowned physicists such as Stephen Hawking have advocated for the existence of a multiverse, others have argued that it is not a question that belongs in science.
But can we settle the question now?
