Africa Days 9 - 10 May
This weekend, in the African Village, you can learn more about the Black Mamba Anti-Poaching Unit, which protects wildlife from poaching. Established in 2013, Black Mamba works in the Balule Nature Reserve, part of the larger Kruger National Park area in South Africa.
The all-female Black Mambas patrol the Balule area daily. They remove traps and snares and monitor the area, and have helped to greatly reduce poaching in the area.
Aalborg Zoo has financially supported the project since its inception in 2013 and has helped spread its message to visitors to the zoo.
Programme for the weekend:
10.45: Help feed the warthogs.
11am-4pm: In the square by the Tropical House, you can meet zoo staff and learn more about the Black Mamba project.
